about the communities where our employees live and work. Giving back is part of who we are.

The Tellabs Foundation, a separate entity established by Tellabs, has contributed more than US$12 million to charitable organizations since its inception in 1997. The Foundation places a priority on initiatives that make a difference in education, health and the environment.

Tellabs and the Tellabs Foundation are inspired by the generosity of our employees. The company offers programs to enhance employees' gifts of time and money, including:

  • Matching gifts. Tellabs offers to match employee contributions to charitable organizations. In 2008, employees' pledges plus the company's matching gifts totaled more than $480,000 to benefit 400 charities around the world.
  • Volunteer opportunities. Tellabs employees volunteer to work at local nonprofit agencies, and may take up to six days of paid time each year to volunteer. Tellabs matches this volunteer time with monetary gifts to those agencies through our matching gift program.
  • Special incentives. During Tellabs' 2008 employee giving campaign, employee gifts plus company match and Foundation grants provided US$230,000 to hunger relief causes around the world. Similar efforts have have totaled more than $1 million to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
