Alberto Barriento promoted to Vice President of Sales
He will focus on helping customers succeed while growing Tellabs presence
São Paulo — Tellabs promoted telecom industry veteran Alberto Barriento to vice president of sales for the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. Barriento will fill the position vacated by Tarcisio Ribeiro, who now oversees Tellabs operations in Europe, Middle East and Asia.
“Alberto will focus on setting strategies and growing Tellabs’ business in the Latin America and Caribbean region, while ensuring that we meet customers’ business needs,” said Roger Heinz, executive vice president for global sales at Tellabs. “During his time with Tellabs, he has helped to build relationships with customers by bringing Tellabs solutions and expertise to resolve customers’ challenges.”
Previously, Barriento was director of sales in Brazil at Tellabs, where he helped position the company through focused activities with key accounts in Brazil. Barriento has more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications industry, including previous sales and managerial positions at Ericsson, Motorola and Nortel. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic engineering from Faculdade de Engenharia Industrial in Brazil. Barriento is headquartered in Tellabs’ office in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
