The Tellabs® 1191 Broadband Element Management System
is a java-based EMS which provides ADSL line configuration, equipment configuration, alarm management, diagnostics, and performance management capabilities for all Tellabs® 1100 high-speed data services.
The Tellabs 1191 system is evolving to support an Internet Protocol (IP) services environment to enable the future operation, administration, maintenance, and provisioning of voice, data, and video services in tomorrow's all-IP network.
The element management system consists of an agent (server) and a manager (client) that can be installed as a "single server" application, or as a distributed application. In the "single server" configuration, the agent and manager are installed on one server. In the distributed configuration, the agent is installed on a server, and the manager is installed on a client computer (workstation).
The software supports the agent/server and manager/client on Solaris® and Windows NT®, and Windows® 2000 platforms. The manager/client can also be installed on Windows NT, and Windows 2000 platforms
The Tellabs 1191 system communicates with the Tellabs 1190 managed elements via internet protocol (IP) over asynchronous transfer mode (ATM), by in-band or out-of-band management. Simple network management protocol (SNMP) is used to manage the NEs. NE software downloads are enabled via trivial file transfer protocol (TFTP) or file transfer protocol (FTP) and remote method invocation (RMI) is used to communicate between the agent/server and manager/client systems.

IP Network Enhancements
Enhancements to the Tellabs 1191 to support the transition of today's ATM-based network to an all-IP services environment include modifications to the Northbound CORBA interface to support IPTV and ADSL line sealing current provisioning for "naked" DSL applications. Other enhancements include:
- Gigabit Ethernet line management
- Ethernet connection and profile management to support 3 profiles: Transparent LAN service (TLS), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV)
- Ethernet HTTP craft connection
Products:
- Tellabs® 1134 Multiservice Access Platform: (MSAP) offers a medium-density, full-service option ideal for smaller deep-fiber applications.
- Tellabs® 1150 Multiservice Access Platform: Represents the evolution of Tellabs® 1100 Multiservice Access Platform.
