Designed for access and regional networks, the
Tellabs® 8600 Managed Edge System
is the latest IP/MPLS (Internet Protocol/Multi-protocol Label Switching) based platform for mobile networks with full support of fixed services for network convergence.
As a key component of the Tellabs® IntegratedMobileSM Solution, the platform is optimized for mobile transport with 3G and 2G transport applications. As part of Tellabs® AssuredEthernetSM Solution, it also provides quality-aware Ethernet and IP Virtual Private Network (VPN) end-to-end service delivery, and broadband service aggregation.
Coupled with Tellabs® 8000 network manager that provides end-to-end management, the Tellabs 8600 managed edge system is highly cost-efficient and scalable. This system scales from a single small managed network up to tens of thousands of network elements and has right size and cost point elements for all locations of radio access networks (RAN) and converged networks.
Customer Benefits:
- Single, long term platform to fulfill operators' needs in evolving mobile RANs and converged networks: Supports all technologies and media needed in 2G to 3G evolution and network convergence – TDM, SDH, ATM, FR and IP/MPLS.
- Minimized operating costs: Built-in management tools minimize operational and maintenance costs with end-to-end management of connections throughout the entire service life-cycle enabling high network availability time.
- Minimized capital costs: One access platform to manage delivery of a mixture of services. Accurate and timely documentation of network data to minimize capital expenses when undertaking network planning and optimization programs.
- Cost-efficient growth: Unique system architecture offers a highly efficient and scalable approach to access network deployment.
System Features:
- Quality-of-Service implementation that ensures strict service guarantees for premium services and possibility to overbook best effort traffic to optimize bandwidth usage in the entire network.
- Integrated end-to-end managed system: Tellabs® 8000 network manager offers unique tools for topology and network management, service and connectivity provisioning, network pre-planning, traffic monitoring and network monitoring, testing and documentation.
- Carrier-class solution: Delivers comprehensive element and network level resilience, extensive Quality of Service (QoS) implementation and scalable network management solution.
- Unique elements architecture where switching is distributed to all line cards to maximize the interface capacity and keep the basic configuration simple and cost efficient.
- Flexible and easy element configurations with a range of freely selectable interface modules and a single interface concentrator to ensure optimal inventory management.
