This web-based course uses video to demonstrate the procedures to install a Switch and Control Card, a 10G Line Card, a Universal Line Card, and a Physical Line Module in a Tellabs 8800 system.

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Insert and retrieve cards using procedures to ensure ESD protection 100% of the time
  • Insert a card in a timely manner as to not disrupt EMI protection and airflow interference in the 8800 series chassis
  • Insert a Switch and Control Card (SCC), 10G Line Card, and Universal Line Card (ULC) into the 8800 series chassis using the card guides without damage to the card or chassis
  • Insert a Physical Line Modules (PLM) into the ULC using the card guides without damage to the card or chassis
  • Seat the SCC, 10G Line Card, and ULC into the 8800 series chassis using the appropriate ejector handle technique without damage to the card or chassis
  • Seat the PLM into the ULC using the appropriate ejector handle technique without damage to either card
  • Apply the appropriate torque to fasten the card to the chassis without damage to the screws or chassis
     
Prerequisites: In order to successfully complete this web-based course, it is strongly recommended that participants have a basic knowledge of the Tellabs 8800 system architecture.
Audience: This course is designed for any personnel who are, or will be, responsible for operating, provisioning, or maintaining Tellabs 8800 series systems.

  • Removing blanking panels
  • Inserting the card into the chassis
