TLC Keyword: MPLST

Orderable part #: GSSTMPLST

This instructor-led course provides an introduction to Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology and its applications. Topics discussed include MPLS applications, label mechanisms, signaling, Layer 1, 2, & 3 VPN services, and MPLS traffic engineering.

This course includes an optional 20-minute end of course knowledge assessment. Participants opting to take the assessment must also enroll in the MPLS Technology - Knowledge Test (MPLSTKT) when enrolling this instructor-led course.

After taking this course, students should be able to:

  • Discuss the history, market factors, and benefits of MPLS.
  • Discuss MPLS terminology and describe MPLS applications.
  • Discuss MPLS label mechanisms and signaling.
  • Describe Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 VPN services that may be provided using MPLS.
  • Describe MPLS traffic engineering.
Prerequisites: This course was designed to examine the MPLS technology and its applications. It is recommended that the audience has knowledge of the following:

  • OSI Reference Model
  • SONET/SDH, Ethernet, ATM, FR
  • TCP/IP and routing protocols
