Tellabs® 5500 Provisioning and Maintenance

This instructor-led course provides knowledge and skills needed to provision and evaluate a Tellabs 5500 system for functionality. It has been designed to be non Feature Package specific. It does, however, contain information relevant through Feature Package 11.x.

This course includes an optional end of course assessment, approximately six hours in duration, which consists of a knowledge test and a performance test. Participants opting to take the course assessment must also enroll in the Tellabs 5500 Provisioning and Maintenance -Assessment (55PMA). Both tests are completed immediately after the training session. Specific day and time is dependent upon session enrollment and equipment availability. Assessments are currently not offered on site.

After taking this course the participants should be able to:

  • Define the primary function of the equipment complexes and determine the proper type of equipment needed to pass traffic through the 5500.
  • Construct and successfully input TL1 commands for each given task.
  • Provision a variety of equipment modules that support Port Shelf functionality.
  • Provision a variety of facilities that terminate on a 5500.
  • Correctly connect and verify the five different signal levels that can be cross connected in the 5500.
  • Utilize the appropriate tool to ensure system integrity and/or resolve equipment and facility alarms and events.
Prerequisites: Prior to enrolling in this course, it is highly recommended that students have a basic knowledge of the following:

  • Time Division Multiplex Transport Systems
  • Digital Cross Connect applications
Audience: This course is designed for any personnel who will be responsible for provisioning and/or maintaining a Tellabs 5500 system.
