This web-based course provides knowledge and skills needed to provision and evaluate a Tellabs 5500 for Voice Quality Enhanced functionality. It has been designed to be non feature package specific. It does, however, contain information relevant through Feature Package 11.1.

This course provides review questions at the end of each lesson and an End of Course Knowledge Assessment. Please note: The End of Course Knowledge Assessment is required for successful completion of this course.

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Use the appropriate RTRV, ED, ENT and DLT TL1 commands.
  • Formulate the proper equipment, carrier or facility address.
  • Determine the SDFs available for use when provisioning a VQE level cross connect.
  • Establish a cross connect that will allow VQE functionality to be implemented on designated facilities.
  • Verify connectivity to VQE designated circuits and identify and resolve alarm and event messages associated with those circuits.
Prerequisites: Prior to enrollment, it is recommended that students have completed the Tellabs 5500 Provisioning and Maintenance instructor-led training. It is also highly recommended that students have a basic knowledge of Time Division Multiplex Transport systems and Digital Cross Connect applications.
Audience: This course is designed for any personnel who will be responsible for provisioning and/or maintaining a Tellabs 5500 system equipped with VQE enabled Port Shelves.
