This web-based course will familiarize participants with Tellabs 5500 system architecture, specifically the hardware, backplane, and cabling requirements for the Network Complex. It has been updated to include FP10.1 information.

After taking this course the participants should be able to:

  • Identify the function of hardware comprising the Network Complex
  • Recognize the function of the network shelf backplane connections
  • Identify the correct Network Complex cabling
  • Recall the cross-connect signal flow through the Network Complex
  • Identify a diagram showing synchronous timing signal flow
  • Recall Network Complex Redundancy

This course includes an end-of-course knowledge test.
 

Prerequisites: Students must have a working knowledge of:
  • Basic telephony
  • Voice and data communications
  • Basic SONET concepts
  • Basic T1 and T3 concepts
Audience: This course is designed for anyone who requires a basic understanding of the Tellabs 5500 system architecture – Network Complex. It is also designed for technicians, administrators, and/or network managers responsible for maintaining, managing, or provisioning a Tellabs 5500 system.

  • Switch Between Active and Standby References
  • Determining System Timing
  • Synchronous Timing Requires Synchronous Interface Modules (SIMs)
  • Synchronous Timing Requires Network Timing Distribution Modules (NTDM)

5. Network Complex Redundancy
