Our Commitment To You
Product training is an important aspect of Tellabs' service to customers. Our goal is to exceed industry standards for hands-on, task-based equipment operation and maintenance training.
Our training is designed primarily for the people with day-to-day responsibility for operating and maintaining Tellabs products. Students learn to configure, provision and maintain Tellabs equipment by practicing on systems that are accessed from classroom terminals.
Training Center Locations
Training Centers are located around the world to better address your region's unique networking and educational requirements. Please review the interactive map with directions and maps of our training centers as well as a list of recommended hotels.
Prerequisite Policy
Course descriptions include prerequisites. Before registering for any course, students are expected to have met the requirements.
Enrollment Procedure
STEP 1 (Request a Tellabs Portal account): In order to access the Tellabs Learning Connections site and enroll in courses, you must have a Tellabs Portal account, please follow the steps outlined below to complete a Portal registration form:
- Go to: https://www.portal.tellabs.com/global/portal/ep/home.do
- Next click the Register button.
- Complete the registration form and click the Submit button.
- Required fields have an * asterisk.
- You will create your own password during registration.
- Your company email address will be your username.
- While most companies are auto-approved, some requests will require 1-3 business days processing time.
- You will receive a confirmation email with an activation link (You must click on the link to activate your account.

STEP 2 (Access Tellabs Learning Connections): If you have an active Tellabs Portal account, you can enroll by logging on to Tellabs Learning Connections site:
- When prompted, enter your Tellabs Portal username and password
- Select the Training tab
- Click the Access TLC Now button
The following guidelines apply:
- Early registration is highly recommended to secure your preferred session.
- Tellabs reserves the right to reschedule or cancel sessions if the minimum enrollment requirement is not met.
- In the event of a session rescheduling or cancellation, the registered students will be notified by email.
- Tellabs will not be responsible for any costs incurred by a customer as a result of cancellation or postponement by Tellabs.
Course Schedule
The course schedule is available online on the Tellabs Learning Connections site. Navigate to Catalog, then click on the View Scheduled Learning Activities link.

Rescheduling Policy
Student substitutions may be made at any time, as long as prerequisites are met. All rescheduling and substitution information must be sent in writing no later than two weeks prior to the session start date.
If a student (or on-site class) is rescheduled two weeks or less prior to the session start date, a 15% rescheduling fee will be charged and the remaining tuition will be transferred to the rescheduled class. Please note, after the 3rd reschedule, full tuition will be charged.

Cancellation Policy
Students have the right to send a substitute student in lieu of cancellation, as long as prerequisites are met. All substitutions or cancellations must be sent in writing no later than two weeks prior to the session start date.
If a student (or on-site class) is canceled two weeks or less prior to the session start date, full tuition of the canceled course will be charged.
Cancellations for web-based courses are not accepted after the student has received admission to the course.

On-site Training
The Training Centers can arrange for classes to be held at a customer site. The customer can either provide a non-traffic-bearing system or use the Lab-connect delivery option. Also required is a suitable classroom or conference room with training aids, such as an overhead projector and white/black board. Ask for detailed classroom and network element specifications.
The fee for on-site training is based upon the course tuition, on-site fees, instructor travel and living expenses and set up fees as required.

Web-based Training System Requirements
Before beginning any web-based course, please make sure your computer hardware and software are compatible by reviewing the general system requirements listed below:
- Operating System: Windows 98, 2000, NT or XP
- Processor: 200 MHz or higher
- Memory: 64 MB of RAM
- Hard Drive Space: 70 MB free disk space
- Browser: Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher (recommended/preferred browser), or Netscape 4.0 or higher.
(Note: Javascript must be enabled) - Plug-ins: Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Internet: Connection 56 kbps modem or higher speed
- Printer: Optional
- CD-ROM: Optional
- Sound Card: Optional
- Monitor: 15" monitor (800 x 600 resolution)
Other common issues that may prevent you from launching or viewing a web-based courses are:
- Course does not launch:
- Issue: Pop-up blockers are on.
- Solution: Turn off all pop-up blockers (including 3rd party such as Google and Yahoo bars)
- More info on how to disable pop-up blockers.
- Course launches a blank page but it does not load.
- Issue: Java version on PC is outdated.
- Solution: Update Java on PC.
- Instructions:
- Go to http://java.com/en/
- Click on the Downloads link (Choose "typical installation")
- In your Internet Explorer window, go to Tools->Option. Click on the Advanced tab
- In the Internet Options window, make sure that the "USE JRE 1.6.0_02 <applet>" is checked.
This checkbox appears under the "Java (SUN)" heading. - Click OK (apply changes).
- Exit all instances of Internet Explorer and try running the course again.
