Our commitment

Product training is an important aspect of our service to you. Our goal is to exceed industry standards for hands-on, task-based, equipment operation and maintenance training.


Locations

We have Training Centers around the world to better address your region's unique networking and educational requirements. Please view the interactive map with directions and maps of our training centers, as well as a list of recommended hotels.


Prerequisites

Course descriptions include prerequisites. You must meet these requirements before registering for any class.


Attendance

We ask that you attend a minimum of 75% of the course duration and pass the end-of-course assessments (if applicable) to receive credit. We do not give partial credits.


Enrollment

STEP 1 (Request a Tellabs Portal account): To access the Tellabs Learning Connections site and enroll in courses, you must have a Tellabs Portal account. Follow the steps outlined below to complete a Portal registration form:

You will create your own password during registration.

STEP 2 (Access Tellabs Learning Connections): If you have an active Tellabs Portal account, you can enroll by logging on to Tellabs Learning Connections (TLC) site:

  • When prompted, enter your Tellabs Portal username and password.
  • Select the Training tab.
  • Click the Access TLC Now button.

The following guidelines apply:

  • We recommend early registration to secure your preferred session.
  • Tellabs reserves the right to reschedule or cancel sessions if the minimum enrollment requirement is not met.
  • In the event of session rescheduling or cancellation, we will notify registered students by email.
  • Tellabs will not be responsible for any costs incurred by you as a result of cancellation or postponement by Tellabs.

Schedule

You can access the course schedule on the Tellabs Learning Connections site. Navigate to Catalog, and then click on the View Scheduled Learning Activities link.

Cancellation policy

In lieu of cancellation, you can send a substitute student if prerequisites are met.

You must submit in writing substitutions or cancellations no later than 2 weeks prior to the session start date.

You will be charged full tuition if a student (or on-site class) is cancelled within 2 weeks or less of the session start date.

You cannot cancel web-based courses after receiving admission to the course.

On-site training

The Training Centers can arrange classes at your site by using the Lab-connect delivery option (Lab-connect system requirements). Ask for detailed classroom and network element specifications.


Web-based requirements

Prior to launching a web-based course, verify computer hardware and software compatibility by reviewing the general system requirements listed below:

  • Operating System: Windows XP or Vista
  • Processor: 600 MHz or higher
  • Memory: 64 MB of RAM
  • Hard Drive Space: 20 MB free disk space
  • Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher (recommended/preferred browser). Note: JavaScript must be enabled.
  • Plug-ins: Adobe Acrobat Reader; Windows Media Player, Macromedia Flash Player (at the latest version).
  • Internet Connection: DSL or LAN connection recommended
  • Printer: Optional
  • CD-ROM: Optional
  • Monitor: 800x600 resolution (1024x768 preferred)
  • Sound capability should be turned on (Not all WBT have sound)
  • All web-based courses will require you to install a Java client. The course will only load if the most updated Java version is installed.

Other common issues that may prevent you from launching or viewing web-based courses are:

  • Course does not launch:
    • Issue: Pop-up blockers are on.
    • Solution: Turn off all pop-up blockers (including third-party, such as Google and Yahoo bars)
      • More info on how to disable pop-up blockers.
  • Course launches a blank page but it does not load.
    • Issue: Java version on PC is outdated.
    • Solution: Update Java on PC.
      • Instructions:
        • Go to http://java.com/en/.
        • Click on the Downloads link (Choose "typical installation").
        • In your Internet Explorer window, go to Tools->Option. Click on the Advanced tab.
        • In the Internet Options window, make sure that the "USE JRE 1.6.0_02 <applet>" is checked.
          This checkbox appears under the "Java (SUN)" heading.
        • Click OK (apply changes).
        • Exit all instances of Internet Explorer and try running the course again.
