Customers have said again and again that the greatest benefits of Optical LAN are the operational efficiencies achieved with Tellabs™ Panorama™ PON Manager.
Why is this?
Operating a network efficiently directly improves uptime and security too – so it’s a three for one winner. On top of that, operational efficiencies are an annuity that pays dividends year-over-year – thus monetary savings pile up exponentially. And best of all, operational efficiencies, network reliability and network security are often personal key performance indicators for IT staff and can help boost careers, annual bonus and salary increases.
How are operational efficiencies obtained?
To adequately cover how operational efficiencies are achieved with Tellabs Panorama PON Manager and recent improvements delivered in SR30.0, I’ll break this blog topic into a series of three installments:
- Fast entry to User Management, Global Profiles and PON Protection found in Panorama PON Manager Tool Bar
- Quick navigation through Port View, Equipment View, Alarm/Event View and other Views in Panorama PON Manager Application Bar
- Easy access of Panorama PON Manager from desktop, laptop, tablet, smart phone or the cloud.
First, let’s dive into the Tellabs Panorama PON Manager newly improved SR30.0 modern color schemes, fonts and icons of the Tool Bar. The new look and lay-out streamlines profile management and helps speeds configuration and navigation between profiles. This is where you can quickly navigate to the User Management, Ethernet Profiles and PON Protection Group Management functions.
User Management – In the User Manager you find the ability to create and edit the user roles and privileges based on corporate security policies to set strict conditional access. Maintaining consistent error-free policies and procedures for user’s roles, privileges and conditional access is paramount for network reliability, security and operational efficiencies.
Ethernet Profiles – Within the Profiles options you can capture consistent and repeatable configurations for equipment, Ethernet ports, services and connections. Again, these global profiles are key to establishing repeatable mistake-free policies and procedures that directly improve network reliability, security and operational efficiencies.
PON Protection Group – In the PON Protection Group Management section you can easily create Type-B PON protection configurations for optical distribution network redundancy between PON ports or PON service modules or geographically dispersed OLTs. With PON protection implemented, the IT staff can be confident they have achieved highest possible network availability and ensured the greatest productivity for the IT team, network and the entire company.
