Broadband Communities Focus On Best Practices For Modern Multi-Dwelling Units

Today Tellabs will be at the 2016 Broadband Communities Summit in Austin Texas. We will be there supporting Richard Holtz of InfiniSys and his popular “Gigafying the MDU“ panel covering networking best practices for bringing simple, secure, stable and scalable broadband connectivity to the Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) market vertical.

The MDU market is ideal for Tellabs because it includes enterprise LAN solutions for student housing, senior living, assisted living, apartments and luxury condo communities. Traditionally this market was supported by fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) gigabit passive optical LAN (G-PON), but more and more enterprise features are demanded. That makes Tellabs Optical LAN solution the best choice for these enterprise needs, such as advanced security, Power over Ethernet, powered device management, specialized optical network terminal (ONT) mounting options, managed Wi-Fi, smart building connectivity and a system management that simplifies operations for MDU staff.

At Erickson Living senior living communities, Tellabs and its’ valued integrator partner Noovis, installed a passive Optical LAN system supporting residence life, business services, fitness centers, clubs, dining, salon, pharmacy, general stores and healthcare services. For the residents of Erickson Living there was a high importance on having always-on and always-connected access to high speed broadband ubiquitously across all devices – smart phones, tablets, laptops and computers.

For Elauwit Networks student housing communities, Tellabs teamed with Core Telecom Systems to deliver a modern high performance Optical LAN, including connectivity to the Ruckus Wireless networks, at 14 cottage-style student housing properties serving major university campuses across the USA.

Also at luxury high-rise Park Place in Atlanta Georgia, Tellabs and IP UtiliNET installed passive Optical LAN equipment to help protect condo owners’ property values and attract new tenants to this high-end metropolitan living experience.
