Traditional transportable networks were cumbersome and meant setting up communications and IT in adverse conditions required truckloads of equipment and up to 20 or more personnel. Tactical teams were often forced to use ad-hoc solutions that were not interoperable, leaving even more issues to resolve – taking hours or even days to operationalize.
The ACUITY® LAN by Tyto Athene, is tactical, temporary and transportable networking solution that leverages Tellabs Optical LAN (OLAN) to ensure communications readiness in a two person carry form-factor. Tyto Athene and Tellabs are able to provide compute, storage, security, communications, wired plus wireless connectivity, and networking power built to support teams at the tactical edge. ACUITY LAN provides a network that is easy to transport, set-up, teardown, power-on and provide a multitude of services. ACUITY LAN spans long distances and allows remote powering of ONT and Power over Ethernet in a reliable, secure, ruggedized system. ACUITY LAN includes Tellabs FlexSym® Optical Line Terminal One (OLT1), Tellabs FlexSym® Optical Network Terminal 248 (ONT248) and ONT Power/Splitter which provides up to 900 feet of typical low voltage or up to 1.2 miles of digital power.

Fully Contained Secure Communications
ACUITY LAN system includes storage (virtual servers, applications), processing (software-based routing), analytics, unified communications (LAN, including softswitch). The Passive Optical LAN eliminates points network of vulnerability and the fiber cabling is inherently more secure.
Small Size and Optimized Weight
ACUITY LAN system is a 1RU LAN solution mounted in a ruggedized hand carry transit case. The Optical LAN provides greater connectivity density in smaller footprint, while the fiber cabling weighs less and takes less space than copper.
Rapid Deploy and Redeploy
ACUITY LAN and Optical LAN together offer pre-provisioned global profiles flow to connected devices. The Optical LAN allows far superior connectivity distances compared to traditional networks. The fiber cabling is more durable and better capacity than transportable networks that rely heavily on copper cabling.
