US Marine Corps to Deploy Tellabs Optical LAN for Unified Communications Upgrade

by | Jan 11, 2018 | Blog

Today we issued a news release announcing the selection of Tellabs Optical LAN by the US Marine Corps to modernize its existing network architecture to a high availability Unified Communications solution at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina.

Tellabs 729GP ONT

This installation will be the first fully Unified Capabilities IP-based network for the Marine Corps. Its purpose will be to integrate voice, video and data services ubiquitously across a more secure, and highly reliable, IP-based fiber network infrastructure. The OLAN design includes our Tellabs 1150E OLT and Tellabs 729GP ONTs.

With the Passive Optical LAN system in place, the US Marines can improve warfighter readiness by continuing to deploy the Tellabs network solution that reduces their security vulnerability points, provides software defined technology, converges communication across a fiber-based network and provides the lowest total cost of ownership to the agency.

Tellabs extends a special thanks to our valued integration partner Black Box, who will engineer, furnish, install, secure and test the converged IP-based fiber network for the MCAS Cherry Point project.
