Tellabs Earns Recognition with Multiple APOLAN Awards

As a global leader in Optical LAN, we are honored to be recognized by APOLAN for our 2022 efforts in innovation, education, promotion, and contributions to the European market. The APOLAN awards recognize companies that have made significant advancement in the Optical LAN industry.

Innovation – In the innovation category, we have been recognized for our groundbreaking advancements in designing and implementing industry leading Tellabs’ PON diversification to improve network health and reliability.

Through careful placement of the 2:x optical splitters, fiber cabling, ONTs, and final Ethernet connections, we have successfully eliminated the chance of broad network outages and minimized any impact on critical services. Our approach of interweaving ONT links from the dual 2:X splitters that connect to two geographically dispersed OLTs has contained the impact of a Type B PON failover event to an interspersed mix of devices, ensuring real-time services, such as security, patient care, or retail services, are maintained.

Education – In the education category, we are recognized for our ongoing education and professional development and our commitment to driving success in the Optical LAN industry. Our company offers a range of training programs and certifications to help professionals develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the industry.

In 2022 Tellabs created a series of Optical LAN seminars that blend technology, education, and social mixer. These seminars consist of network planning, design, and operations instruction, allowing attendees to earn BICSI Continued Education Credits, AIA Learning Units, and the opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders. We’ve been able to take our seminars, which educated architects, engineers, installers, integrators, and end-users, nationwide and provide firsthand knowledge concerning how to plan, build and operate an enterprise Passive Optical LAN.

Promotion – In the promotion category, we are recognized for our marketing and outreach efforts. We believe in the power of Passive Optical LAN and its benefits for modern enterprises. It is our pleasure to share this knowledge with others through our white paper, which explains what POL is, how it works, and its numerous benefits. Aimed to build awareness of Passive Optical Networking. We are thrilled that our white paper has been viewed many times. Key topics in our manufacturer-agnostic white paper:

  • Contemporary fiber design versus legacy copper LANs
  • Converged connectivity for modern offices, IoT, and smart buildings
  • Reduction in space and use of less material
  • Improved reliability with higher network availability
  • Tightened security by reducing points of vulnerability
  • Delivery significant monetary savings

European – In the European category, we are recognized for our achievements at the European World Expo 2020 in Dubai, which in response to COVID-19, ran safely and successfully from October 2021 to March 2022. The project’s successful implementation of a sustainable, high-performance network infrastructure that supports advanced lighting, audio, and visual systems.

The Sustainability Pavilion, and it’s Passive Optical LAN connectivity, was one of the most popular attractions at the World Expo. The Optical LAN system personified the sustainability theme, featured industry-leading uptime availability, provided adaptability to architectural aesthetics, offered ease of network management for the IT staff, and is highly scalable for future growth.

We are incredibly proud of our achievements and the recognition we have received. Receiving these APOLAN awards is a testament to the hard work, expertise, and dedication of our team, who consistently strive to design and implement advanced network infrastructure solutions that meet the highest standards of excellence. It is a testament to the quality of our work and the commitment of our team to delivering exceptional network infrastructure solutions. We look forward to continuing to innovate and excel in our field and are honored to have our efforts recognized by our peers in the industry. Thank you APOLAN!
